“They are Shrieking for Freedom!”

CC-May-2015-LFor many of us Memorial Day is the unofficial mark of summer, full of fun-in-the-sun activities, and quick trips to spend time with family and friends. Most of us, too though, hold a place in our hearts and minds to honor and thank those who have given us this important day. There are few sacrifices as great as the one made by our military personnel and their families who give up many of their own freedoms to safeguard ours.

It is said that during one of the battles of the Revolutionary war, the noise of the conflict woke several eagles and they flew from their nests, circling over the heads of the fighting man and screeching in protest of the noise. The patriots said “They are shrieking for freedom!”

For most of our country’s life, the Bald Eagle has represented freedom, strength and resilience, bringing hope and pride when we’ve struggled and suffered. It has buoyed the spirits of our troops and our citizens alike, reminding us that even when we’ve been injured, the American spirit will rise and prevail.

On this day of honoring and remembering our heroes, what better gift to give than this grand symbol of our nation? Handcrafted of the highest quality, Black Hills Gold Jewelry by Coleman’s collection of rings, pendants and tack pins bearing the mark of the eagle will be a lasting memorial to loved ones who have served, worthy of passing on from generation to generation.

This Memorial Day, as we enjoy the freedoms so many have fought and died for, let us all pause for a moment and remember what we have because of what they have given.
