Rose Quartz South Dakota’s State Mineral

25872/RQ-GS

Rose Quartz is designated as South Dakota’s official state mineral and is known as the stone of Love.

Rose Quartz is found in the southern Black Hills of South Dakota, USA and is mined in an area of exposed granite mass known as Harney Peak. It is found in pegmatites formed more than 1,700 million years ago within the earth’s crust and has very slowly made its way to the surface.

Although most Quartz is translucent or faint white, Rose Quartz can have a light to a brilliant pink color.

Because of its color and the fact that it is from South Dakota, it makes a perfect compliment to our Black Hills Gold jewelry.
